As of 1 April, Annika Hoffmann (40) takes over the agendas of WINERY FÖRTHOF as managing director and cellar master. Hoffmann completed studies in Viticulture & Enology in Geisenheim, Germany. The Austrian-by-choice has lived and worked in the Wachau region for 14 years. Young, dynamic and successful, Hoffmann draws on a wealth of expertise gained at renowned wineries in Germany and Austria. "It's a wonderful job. When can you build a winery from scratch?" enthuses Hoffmann. "I am well versed in wine, but the subject of fine spirits is exciting and new to me. Fortunately, I have the active support of a colleague who has many years of “spirited” experience." The 2021 vintage will be the first to be produced entirely by WINERY FÖRTHOF, from pruning to bottling.
